Life is too short to argue about everything. Unless it’s about pop culture, because this is where all the best arguments happen (until the fun spoils and it becomes toxic. Looking at you, Star Wars fans). So this week, we’re going to check out the greatest American theme songs from the 1980s. And 70s. And maybe early 90s?
We’re gonna be honest: our focus is awful and even worse than our SEO.
Where were we? Oh yeah. Arguing.
The 1970s and 80s brought so many incredible tv shows, and it used to be that an incredible TV show also required an incredible theme. Not like today’s shows, which seem to HELP WE’RE TURNING INTO OLD MEN WHO COMPLAIN ABOUT STUFF THAT’S DIFFERENT NOW.
Sorry about that. We’re sure that today’s shows have great theme songs and we encourage someone to make a podcast about that. But for now, let’s enter the Thuderdome of TV shows to decide which is the greatest from the Gen X period.
You’ll note that we include brief clips of the theme songs in the video. They are so short because 1) we needed to keep the length of the podcast manageable, and 2) we are frightened and confused by “fair use” and are worried that the longer the clip, the more likely our homes will get raided by Agent Smith-looking copyright lawyers. Believe me when I tell you, we’d much rather listen to the songs than us too.
Also, you may like to check out some of our other podcasts, where we talk about spooky tv and movies, and even the Simpsons!
