We’ve all chased the elusive bluebird of happiness our whole lives, trying hard to trap it and lock it in a cage of joy and feed it little seed bells of our hopes and water containers of dreams until it dies and you have to bury it in the backyard of depression in a cardboard box of sadness. But that feathery secret to happiness always seems out of reach.
We’ve all been there.
Pop’s secret to happiness
Luckily there are older and wiser people who can help us uncover that secret to happiness. Pop was one of those people. He lived what we today might think of as a hardscrabble life on the farm. But it gave him perspective, which he shared with his son. Much to the son’s annoyance.
